Jasenko Marin

Professor

Jasenko Marin is a full professor at the University of Zagreb (Croatia), Faculty of Law, Department for Maritime and Transport Law. He was born in Sisak (Croatia) in 1970. He graduated law in 1995 at the Zagreb Faculty of Law where he also obtained his LL.M .in 2001 and Ph.D. in 2003. Professor Marin had been employed by Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (Adriatic Institute) from 1996 until 2003. Since 2003 he works at the Zagreb Faculty of Law.  He is keeping following lectures at the graduate level: Maritime and Transport Law, Insurance Law and European Transport Law. At the post-graduate level, Professor Marin is keeping following lectures: Maritime law - Contracts on Transport, Maritime Law - Extracontractual Liability of Shipowners, Insurance Law and Maritime and Transport Insurance. Furthermore, at the inter-disciplinary postgraduate master program Crisis Management he is keeping lectures entitled Legal and Economic System and Crisis.

Professor Marin is a member of the Croatian Academy of Legal Sciences. He is also a member of the Executive Board of the Croatian Maritime Law Association as well as of the Executive Board of the Croatian Association for Insurance Law (AIDA-Croatia).  He is a member of the Academic Advisory Committee established by the Institute for European Traffic Law.  Jasenko Marin is an arbitrator of the Permanent Arbitration Court at the Croatian Chamber of Commerce for the disputes containing international elements as well as for national disputes. He is also an arbitrator of the Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration (SHIAC). He is a mediator of the Croatian Insurance Bureau - Mediation Centre. He is also the Insurance Ombudsman appointed by the Board of Directors of the Croatian Insurance Bureau. Professor Marin was a member of the Expert Commission which drafted 2004 Croatian Maritime Code and its 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2013 Amendments.  He is also an ad hoc Expert Consultant of the Croatian Constitutional Court. Professor Marin is a member of editorial boards of two scientific periodical publications: Comparative Maritime Law and Zagreb Law Review. He is also a member of the newsletter EUROPA info published by the Zagreb Faculty of Law. Professor Marin is author of one textbook, one scientific book, four book chapters and over 30 peer-reviewed scientific articles and professional papers related to transport and transport insurance, which have been  published in Croatian or English language. He was a per-reviewer of one university textbook as well as of more than 50 articles published in scientific journals. Professor Marin took an active part on 15 international and national scientific conferences and seminars devoted to the various topics of transport and insurance law.Add Description here
